The definition of a Gimmick Rallye on this site goes out of it's way to be dismissive. Timed Rally skill comes from controlling speed while driving, and gimmick rallye skill comes from solving puzzles. Many enjoy both, and while I prefer the gimmick rallye I see no need to denigrate someone with a different preference.

The descriptions here do not do the highly competitive range of gimmick rallye courses justice. A gimmick rallye is a board game where your car is the piece and your ability to decipher instructions will allow you to move to areas that score points while avoiding areas that lose points. This isn't about drawing poker cards nor answering trivia questions, it is about interpreting coded instructions. Look at therallyeclub.org for some good examples.
