I assume you mean at regionals?

Yes, everyone with tires that have less than 6 heat cycles should be immediately disqualified......just kidding.

Let's break it down:
Tires
Transmission
Chassis
Engine

In reverse order:

Engine - since most of us are having engines built by one or maybe two engine builders, pretty much everyone is legal. If someone wanted to cheat, they would either run more displacement (1300 cc) or a hotter cam. Neither one of these is easy to check in impound.
The only part of a engine that can easily be checked in impound is the intake manifold and on a regional level it is just as likely that someone might have a repaired manifold, that might be technically illegal but performance wise no advantage.
The one thing that might make a difference is fuel, and on a National level that might be worth looking into, but again, on a regional level, the bigger problem is a trace of street gas screwing up the fuel test.

Answer - leave engine checks to the protest proceedure, unless really obvious (turbo, nitrous, etc. - <grin>)

Chassis: Weight and track. Weight is the only legitimate thing I think you can check for. Since most of us run over the minimum (our cars seem to get heavier the older we get - can't figure it out), someone who runs light should be disqualified, even though it is most likely not deliberate (running not enough fuel, or not having checked weight for many years...)

Track can be checked fairly easy and if within .5" okay. If some one was going to cheat (with long rear axles) would be really obvious. With the different wheels, this is confusing enough

Answer - Check weight

Transmission - Gear ratios can be checked fairly easily. Again, most of us have trannys built by same person, but someone could pull something out of a junkyard and run it with out checking.

Answer - leave this to the protest proceedure.

Tires - the biggest performance advantage you can get is from fresh tires and has nothing to do with tech.

Basically, we spend a lot of time looking over each other's cars. If someone was running something illegal, we would probably find it first.
This is a class that should be easy for tech, compared to say Showroom Stock.
