May 29th was a very sad event at the Orangeburg Drag Strip in South Carolina. Dean Martin racing his ChevyII flipped and was not wearing proper saftey gear and was killed. But the truely real tragedy was his young Grandson was the only one there with him. The other part of the Tragedy was there was no Ambulance on site. It took over 30 minutes for a Ambulance to arrive to the scene.
This is not the first incident where no Ambulance was on scene. This track is rated IHRA sanction.
If the racers would refuse to go back until the owners take responsabilty and have a Ambulance on the scene at every race this will not be the last Tragedy at this track. Boycott is the only way to get this changed. It is so un fair to the Racers and there Family & Friends that the Track will not always spend the money to have a Ambulance on site.
I suggest that the IHRA investigate this Track, for saftey issues. They do not even check the saftey equipment in these racers cars.
Please be advised this is my personal oppinion and I was present when this occured.
