Greenwood Roadway

Greenwood Roadway, also known as Greenwood Raceway, was a 3.0-mile road course located on Hwy 65 between Indianola and Liberty Center in central Iowa, about 30 miles south of Des Moines. It was only in operation as a race track from 1963 to 1966. The track featured significant elevation changes and most of the track surface, and some Armco barrier, still exists. The facility is now used to store construction equipment.

Historical Note

During its short life, Greenwood Roadway was host to SCCA National and USRRC races, as well as SCCA Club and motorcycle racing. Various proposals over the years to revive it as a race track have come to nothing.
