The track opened in 1963 as a 1/8 mile paved oval, operating in this form until 1988. It operated as a 1/8 mile dirt oval from 1989-1996. In 1997, it expanded to a 1/6 mile dirt oval, operating in this form until around 2003-2004, when it shut down.

The track also operated as Amarillo Modified Midget Raceway and Viper Speedway.
