This is the second track known as Medicine Hat Speedway. The first was a 1/4 mile dirt oval which operated from 1986-1993 and was located about 1/4 mile away from the current track. It was shut down due to concerns about its proximity to a chemical plant and replaced by the current track. The original track also operated under the name Medicine Hat Race Track.

The current track opened on August 13th, 1993.

From the marked intersection, go north on Box Springs Road and look for the access road for the track on your left after a short distance.
