Through its AMA Pro Racing subsidiary, the AMA sanctions a variety of activities throughout North America including road racing, flat track racing, drag racing and motocross. The Pro Racing subsidiary was formed in 1995.
AMA/Prostar was originally the motorcycle arm of the IHRA. After the first year, it broke away and changed names in order to gain access to NHRA tracks, and has since affiliated with the AMA.
