The ASA was a stock racing organization running primarily on central and midwestern tracks, and providing a sanction framework to many independent oval tracks. The original ASA imploded in 2004. Two major organizations spun off of the failure of the ASA: ASA Late Models, which carries on the Late Model Stock car program, and ASA Racing (Member Tracks) which carries on the sanctioning program for independent tracks, as well as sanctioning for various regional series.
