Historical Note

The track opened in 1950 as Alton Speedway. It was variously operated as Godfrey Speedway, Ascot Speedway and Action Speedway over the years, settling on Godfrey Speedway in 1979. In 1995 the track was reconstructed and lengthened to the current 1/4 mile, and named 67 Raceway Park. Around 2004-2005, was renamed back to Godfrey Speedway. In the summer of 2006, the site was sold and the track was to be shut down permanently.
