Champion Speedway

Champion Speedway is a 1/8 mile dirt oval located near Owego, New York. A kart track of some kind has been proposed, but the status of that project is unclear. The track is owned/operated by Jason Bonsignore Racing, who also own Action Park Speedway.

It is unclear if this track operated in 2007.

Historical Note

The track opened in 1975 for Speedway motorcycle racing. From 1983 through 1986, it operated as Grand Sport Speedway. During 1990-1, the track operated briefly as Champion Speedway and then American Speedway. In 1992-3, the track operated as Owego Motorsports Park, and then shut down until 1997, when Bonsignore took over and revived the track as New Champion Speedway. Bonsignore purchased the facility in 2001, made major rennovations, and dropped "New" from the name.

The track operated micro sprints in 1992, 1993, and 2001, and otherwise has been focused on motorcycles.
